Having worked at Melvyn Danes for almost 8 years, I am hoping the knowledge I have gained in the property market will help me to find my dream home – a small cottage with enough land to fill with dogs, donkeys, and pygmy goats.
With a career in finance spanning more than 30 years, in a variety of roles, I have gained extensive experience in both accounts and payroll. In my current position, that knowledge has extended to the property market. Dealing with the accounts for both the Sales and Lettings departments, every day brings a new challenge making this an interesting and diverse role that I thoroughly enjoy.
As well as my love animals, my other passions include – travel, eating out, photography, and spending time with my family. When we are not planning our next holiday, our time is spent on long walks with our Cavapoo Daisy.
Joanne Curry
Operations Manager
My career began in the finance industry, and after taking a career break to have a family, I joined Melvyn Danes at the Wythall office in 2014 as an Administrator and Contract Chaser (and office organiser!). In 2022 I was promoted to the role of Operations Manager.
I grew up in Wythall and now live down the road in Solihull with my husband, two children and cat. Outside of work I enjoy holidays and spending time with my family, reading, going to the gym and a good Netflix drama.

Escape to the Country, A Place in the Sun, Love it or List-You get the idea of the genre I watch on TV if I am not watching a Netflix Series!
A varied work history began in local hotels, then at exhibitions, as a holiday rep abroad (for my sins), owned a café and finally selling houses. I am always looking to move house and prefer to move every few years which means I spend a lot of time looking on house moving portals to see what is available.
I also enjoy reading rom-com novels, playing badminton badly, going to the theatre and spending lots of time with my family! My favourite time is watching my son who is now early 20’s playing squash.
If I could meet anyone dead or alive it would be Elvis Presley and my favourite pastime is laughing!

My property career started following from owning a rental property with a problematic tenant and after they allowed the bath to overflow with water dripping from the light fitting below and a less than helpful managing agent I took steps to look in to managing the property myself. This lead to me putting myself through courses and then working at an independent company dealing with both sales and lettings and then joined Melvyn Danes in 2018.
Having recently completed a large extension on our property, my partner and I now spend the majority of our down time looking after our six pygmy goats, ten chickens and walking our crazy Beagle puppy to the local pub using the guise of it been for exercise and socialising purposes!!

My early career started out as a trainee hairdresser but after 9 house moves under my belt I felt this could be a sign for a new career path!!
I then moved on to working in the new build industry which lasted for 10 years until redundancy made me look at other options.
By chance I popped in to Melvyn Danes in Solihull to pick up a property paper, asked if there were any job vacancies and never looked back.
Another 10 years has passed I still love my job as a senior negotiator at Shirley as much as did a decade ago. The business keeps me on my toes and I love the interaction with my colleagues and clients.
My loves and interests outside of work are looking after my fur baby Mylo,spending time with my husband 2 daughters and grandson and I am known occasionally to enjoy a good knees up.
